Pain with a Glimmer of Hope

Nesreen, a student from the historic city of Al-Hajrain, chose teaching young girls the memorization of the Holy Quran as her volunteer initiative to fulfill the requirements of the New Horizon Leaders Scholarship.

Every evening, she would brave the rugged roads with her father on a motorcycle, determined to reach the Quran study circles where she planted the divine words in the hearts of little girls. Her ultimate dream was to honor her parents with the Crown of Dignity, a symbol of the reward granted to those who teach the Quran.

However, on one of their journeys to the mosque, Nesreen and her father suffered a tragic road accident. After days of struggle, her father passed away, leaving her in deep shock and grief. She was overwhelmed by guilt, believing that she was somehow responsible for her father’s passing, as he had been proudly accompanying her on her volunteer mission when the tragedy struck.

For a long time, she found it impossible to move past her sorrow. But one day, she had a realization—her father’s dream had always been for her to graduate and earn a bachelor’s degree. With newfound determination, she made a courageous decision to return to her studies, keeping her father’s pride as her guiding light.

From the depths of pain came great resilience. Nesreen excelled and was honored with the "Nahl" Award for Overcoming Hardships, a prestigious recognition given to individuals who demonstrate exceptional strength and perseverance in the face of adversity.

Just as the path to success is filled with obstacles, her journey to the mosque with her father was rugged and challenging—but in the end, it was a journey paved with light and purpose.
